Indulgence day

HELLO EVERYONE!!! i'm going to begin this post by sharing a little about myself *ahem* I've recently been starting a changed lifestyle whereby i try to eat healthier, indulge less and exercise more in order to keep fit. But SUNDAYS are the days i kinda let loose a little and enjoy my meals. Like instead of having soupy or less oily food all the time, i get to eat what i want for a day (of course, i still don't go all out and consume like 50 donuts). So after a week of serious dieting, and when i say serious i mean... absolutely NO CARBS and only BOILED chicken breast with STEAMED veggie and fruits, yea, sad life right? So i indulged today.

First up! since my parcel from forever 21 came in just yesterday, i was super super excited to dress up today!!! let me show you my #OOTD

Studded sleeveless top F21, Red Tattered Shorts F21, Black Cut-out platform wedges F21

These shoes are so so super pretty!! when i saw it i knew immediately that i HAD to get a pair, but i was a little disappointed after wearing it today because it gave me blisters.. *ouch* ):  but because i'm vain i tahan!! no pain no gain, right?

My accessories aren't branded at all! In fact, my watch cost me around $3 i think.. you know those 3 for $10 shop? Yea bought that from one of those shops in Hong Kong. The leopard bracelet also bought from Bangkok, so as you can tell... probably quite cheap too :D
Black and silver watch, Leopard bracelet

Right after taking this OOTD, i couldn't wait to go grab some lunch! was super hungry by then since it was way past lunch hour (around 2 plus) and was craving some prawn noodles! I guess i'm lucky to stay around the east area, it seems to have the best food of all kinds. So we headed down to Beach Road Prawn Mee Eating House just along upp east coast road. Now, it was 2 plus already AND parking there isn't easy, so i expected there to have no queue, but NOOOOOO!!!!! This is what i saw...

SO CROWDED!! ended up having to wait for my noodles... but i must commend on their efficiency, given the crowd and the overwhelming number of orders, they were still really quick in delivering the noodles.. took around 10 minutes! Well while waiting i was still bored.. and when you're bored and have nothing but a phone, what do you do?? CAMWHOREEEEEEE :P

#LOTD -- make up consisting concealer, nude eyeshadow, eyeliner on the waterlines, blush, highlight&bronzer and lip tint
Okay just kidding, i was texting.. but food arrived soon!! YAY!!

Pork Rib Yellow Noodle Soup (no lard/oil) -- $5.80

Prawn Yellow Noodle and Beehoon Soup (no lard/oil) -- $5.80
#hungry

I was so so happy when our food came that was literally my face.. (okay, some exaggeration there, but.. you get the point). I've NEVER tasted a prawn noodle better than this, EVER. I've always been eating prawn noodles from this stall since i was young #loyalfan. It's really really good, trust me! The soup is super flavourful and the pork ribs were tender and tasty. The prawns were fresh and sweet and the noodles were cooked perfectly fine. Apart from that, they also have a few condiments that you can put as much as you want! Totally gonna rate this place a 5/5. The stall right beside it sells Ngoh Hiang too! a great complement to prawn noodles because its nice and crispy. I didn't order that today but it is SUPER good! served hot and fresh PLUS its crispy and tasty! Comes with a unique sweet sauce and chilli sauce for dipping, rating them a 5/5 as well! If you're ever craving prawn noodles, THIS is the place to go!!

After a yummy lunch we headed back home to chill and pack for my upcoming Shanghai trip with the school! Can't wait to share my experience with all of you when I'm back on the 30th of November :D

Dinner time *ding ding* Time for more yummy goodies before my indulgence day is over and I'm back to healthy eating. Of course must grab this opportunity to eat more right?! HAHAHA so we headed down to 'Little Pancakes' at upper thomson road because i heard that they served good pancakes and i wanted to try!

Their menu is rather small when it comes to Savoury pancakes.. But their menu is quite interesting as they have an 'Asian' creation section that has unique toppings for their pancakes you probably won't really be able to find anywhere else..

I'm a huge fan of sweet drinks but i hardly ever order any because of it's ridiculous prices like $7 for a glass of orange juice, like whaaaaat? you can get 5 oranges for $1.65 when they're on discounts from the supermarkets okay! But this place sells their drinks at a pretty reasonable price so i decided to get myself one. It was an average price, but also an average tasting drink, would rate this a 3/5 because it doesn't taste bad, it just didn't taste spectacular.

We ordered one savoury pancake to share because mum and i both wanted dessert hahaha yea, we're sweet tooth-ers.. Can't ever resist desserts and little sweet snacks >.< AND OMGGGG their pancakes are indeed miniature and so super CUTEEEEE. Seeing adorable miniatures like these just makes you happier and makes the food taste better (in my opinion), but yes! their pancakes were good! i was hot, soft and fluffy despite it being smaller and having a higher chance of being over-cooked. Served with a simple green salad, potato salad and butter&maple syrup, this dish is a complete one and i'd rate it a 4/5. It's not very atas or spectacular but i think it is worth the price, and it does taste good!

After sharing this we were all ready for our sweet pancake dessert but then!!! They ran out of pancakes as they were about to close already ): So sad... *Sigh* i thought i wasn't going to have any dessert already and was feeling rather upset that i didn't get to try their unique sweet pancakes. So since they had no more pancakes, we decided to take a walk around upper thomson area to see if there were any other possible places to have dessert at. BLESSING IN DISGUISE!!! There were A LOT of dessert shops around all within 1km of the place, and we stumbled upon this shop called 'salted caramel'. That immediately caught my eye because i'm a caramel fan hehehe so i walked right in and checked it out. Turns out there wasn't really any relation to its name, was just an ice-cream shop. But i have to say their ice-creams are DARN GOOD. I HIGHLY recommend the Earl Grey flavour if you ever go, its light yet fragrant! Best thing about their ice-cream is that it's creamy and decadent yet is quite solid and doesn't melt super fast like some other brands. So we ordered a waffle to share (here's another weak spot of mine.. i LOVE waffles)

Here's the picture of the waffle we shared! Two scoops of Earl Grey ice cream (cause its that good), maple syrup and an additional topping of caramel biscuits! -- $9.90 . Was absolutely delicious we finished it in no time at all!! definitely a 5/5 !

So that's all the food we had today! Was really really full, i felt like a potato all ready to roll home hahaha head down to 'salted caramel' if you're craving a nice good waffle with ice cream and you live at thomson area! For more details :

MACARONS!!

Delicate, Small, Expensive, Decadent, AMAZING.

I'm a HUGE HUGE fan of macarons and with a little exaggeration, i guess you could say i'm obsessed with them. They are the absolute 1 thing i cannot resist!! (especially the salted caramel ones..) they are so so yummy! And Macarons are terribly difficult to make because any single, slightest mistakes.. or sometimes, even things you cant control like the humidity that day, can make your WHOLE batch of macarons fail ): How depressing?

And I guess that's the reason why one tiny little macaroon can be sold for approx $2-$3. Seems like its a really expensive snack right? WRONG cause there are many other expensive snacks out there that, in my opinion, is nowhere near a macaron. Some people pay $1.50 for a piece of chocolate... WHY? when you can pay a little more for these cute, perfect little macarons?

Different people have different tastes and preferences, i guess.. but to me, i place heavy judgement on the filling of the macarons. If its suppose to be salted caramel but the caramel is sweet... *DEHHH* #FAIL. If its suppose to be praline but i only taste chocolate... *DEHHH* #FAIL. Some of you might be thinking that the shell is more important, right? So today let's have a discussion on three brands of macaroons -- Antoinette vs. TWG

First up, Antoinette! Calling out to all those people who are like me, and focus a lot more on the filling than the shell, Antoinette would definitely be the right choice for you! My ultimate favourite Salted Caramel Macarons are from this place and i have yet to find another shop whose filling can win theirs! Priced at $2.50 each, i would say their worth a try! :D

Salted Caramel, Praline, Pistachio

Next, TWG Macarons! Their shells are more unique because they are flavoured with tea. I don't know if its the tea or what, but their shells are also a lot softer than usual Macarons, which i personally don't really enjoy because the shells are suppose to be crispy on the top and soft and chewy on the inside... I really like that special fragrance in their Macarons though! but i still prefer Antoinette's. TWG's macarons are sold at $2 each, slightly cheaper than Antoinette's so, they're still worth a try!

Matcha, Caramel

So that's it folks! just a short little random post on Macarons cause.. Hey i'm a real Macaron fan!! if you haven't noticed how i've been raving over them since the beginning of this post.. hahaha So if you know of any place that serves the best salted caramel Macarons, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE share with me!! leave a comment below okay? I really LOVE Macarons and still on the quest to find the best ones! :D

Love love you guys, thanks for reading xx

Symmetry - Dinner menu

TGIF!!!

After a whole week of school, chores, boring stuff.. the weekends are finally here and i can't believe i'm blogging about FOOD again, hahahaha! Boy, we really are food-people. Anyway, we went to Symmetry today! Since it was recommended by a friend and the previous time we went they were FULL! says something, does'nt it?

A little quaint restaurant at a place where parking is so freaking difficult to find, is what i'd describe the overall place as... but apart from the parking, i think the restaurant itself is a pretty cozy place :D

#OOTD At the entrance of Symmetry! Disclaimer: No makeup, no filter, lighting wasn't really good either, so pardon the quality!

Mini-bar inside the restaurant

Pretty little decorations at the windows

Small open kitchen and "MUST TRYs!"

Their layout's pretty simple! No fancy menu with hard-to-understand Italian descriptions like... "salade d'endives aux noix et bleu" *??????*

Menu Layout

Cutlery Lay out

I guess, although yummy, hot and fresh bread as a complimentary starter is always a good way to start the meal... and it was a lilttle weird not receiving that here, but at least their grapes were nice and cold and SWEET! Something new for a change? A* for their creativity, but i still prefer bread.. OR HOW ABOUT BOTH??? :D okay being too greedy... either way's good!

Grapes on crushed ice -- Complimentary starter

So.. Since the four of us, my mom, jesslyn, Jet (her boyf) and i went together, we kinda whooped the menu, ordering four extremely different main courses. That would entitle us to a good gauge of their standards, no?

Mine : Baby Spatchcock (male chicken) with roasted root vegetables! the chicken was barely cooked, and by that i meant that the meat wasn't dry AT ALL. In fact, a little too 'bouncy' for my liking, but definitely a great dish! you know how easy it is to screw up roast chicken right? 1 minute too long and the whole thing turns dry and yucky cause there really isn't much sauce or anything.. Still an overall great dish -- 4/5 !

Baby Spatchcock -- $32 (price slightly steeper as it is a relatively larger portion )

Mom's : I don't eat fish so... no comments on this from me, but everyone at the table LOVED it! it was served with a cheesy potato gratin-like side (I succumb to any sort of good potato #biased), which was really interesting! the cream sauce had bacon in it as well and C'MON.. WHO DOESN'T LOVE BACON??? it just gave the whole dish an extra kick, YUMMY -- 4.5/5

Cod -- $28

Jet's: Jet's duck leg was served with some foie gras which elevates the whole dish and brings it to the next level! The dish originally came with risotto but Jet didn't fancy it so he changed it to fries instead! Their fries were amazing!!! If their normal fries already taste this good, i can't imagine what their truffle fries will be like!! Yummy dish if not for the slight small portion :( -- 3.5/5

Duck Leg -- $28

Jesslyn's: Braised pork cheeks were soft, tender, lean and tasty! YUM YUM! I never liked my meat soft-soft like that, but it was really tasty and GOOD! Jie said the pork was a bit too porky which she didn't enjoy. It's a little hard to describe what she meant but I think it's like a stronger meat smell? Imagine the taste of lamb as compared to beef, lamb does have a stronger "smell" right? Also, I know it looks like a pile of veggie there... but it actually goes well with the pasta and tightens the dish. Especially since it was cream cause based so it kinda makes the dish less "jelak".. 3/5!

Pork Cheeks Pasta -- $26

With that said, we were toooo full for dessert! They had a rather small selection of dessert which nothing that WOWed us upon first look anyway, so we decided to skip that and went to watch '3 peas in a pod' instead. Speaking of that movie, have you guys watched it?

Its a really good movie with some humour and romance, not gonna spoil it for you guys but its good! trust me :D the storyline is simple and sweet yet interesting enough for me to consider it a good movie, go watch go watch!

I recommend Symmetry for those who are craving FRIES because their fries were really awesome!! Smelling the truffle aroma all over the restaurant... DAMN, makes me regret not ordering a portion for myself >.< but do check them out, and remember to make a reservation as they're quite popular! By popular I mean like.. better call at least 3 days in advance kind.. We tried calling a day before/going as walk-in customers for the past 3 Fridays and didn't get a seat so this time we kiasu a bit and called 1 week in advance!

Canton Paradise @ I12 Katong

Hello everyone! I'm back with more great food places you can try out! Now i'm not really a big fan of chinese food and many of the times i wouldn't be willing to trade off my brunch places to have chinese food.. But afterall, I still have my Chinese roots somewhere in me :D

So today was the day i wanted chinese food, come to think of it... Dim Sum can be quite a great place for brunch too! Canton Paradise is just a few kilometers away from home, so it's a quite and easy place to get too for those who stay in the east!

Entrance of Restaurant

Mini Bakery at the entrance

Now i have to say they really know how to put their displays in a strategic way.. Imagine walking through the entrance and you're greeted with succulent, luxurious roasted pork belly and duck hanging by the glass window beside you.. HOW CAN YOU SAY NO TO THEM?!?

Char Siew, Chicken, Pork Belly, Duck... *Drools*

So we got a seat that faces the small open kitchen, torturous because  we get to see and smell food leaving the kitchen but never seem to be coming to our table ): #impatient

Do you get what i mean now?? #temptation

But after what seemed like FOREVER, our food finally came!! YAY!!! was totally starving by then given that we had to wait 30 minutes before getting our seat... we ordered some dishes to share, Let's let the pictures speak for themselves ((:

... HONEY GLAZED CHAR SIEW!!! One of the BEST Char Siew i have tasted, EVER!! super soft and tasty plus it's lean so it's kinda guilt-free eating! Only thing that was weird was that it was served with this kind of peanuts 0.o i thought they normally served it with braised peanuts or something, no? WHO CARES ABOUT PEANUTS... gotta rate this a 5/5 cause it's so darn goooood!

BBQ pork with Honey Sauce -- $10.80

They call this noodles spicy.. but i honestly thought it was more sweet than spicy >.< Was still pretty nice anyway! noodles were nice and springy! would rate it a 3.5/5
Spicy dry noodles with shredded pork

and lastly, for desserts!! MINI EGG TARTS!! I love how they were served fresh and hot! But i would have liked a little more crust and less egg custard, so i would rate this a 3.5/5, but hey! they would be great for people who like the egg custard :D
Baked Egg Tarts -- $4.20

We also had stir-fried cabbage with minced pork... but the hungry and impatient me gobbled it down, forgetting that i haven't took a photo of it to show you guys.. oops >.< Sorry! hahaha will take a photo when i go back there for another meal (ps: which will be very soon...)

If you're convinced by this short post already.. then what are you waiting for? Head on down to  Canton Paradise, i'm sure you're gonna love it! especially all their roasted specialities!

Brunch - Club Street Social

First post on this blog made by Jess and I and guess what? IT'S ABOUT FOOD!!! Doesn't this just go to show how much of a foodie we are? Sucks to be those kind that can't eat without getting fat... But still, we EAT TO LIVE MAN! Soooo, after a great workout on a sunny saturday morning, I headed off for brunch with mom for a treat! I swear, brunch is my favourite meal of the day... it has all the yummiest food!

So we arrived at -- club street social -- TADAAA!

Overview of the restaurant
Let's cut the chase short, we went straight into ordering the FOOD.. This was what Mom ordered. WAY WAY WAY toooo expensive for three tiny little pieces of bread in my opinion! No doubt they tasted super good, but they were hardly the size of your palm (without the fingers) ... so i'm rating this dish a 3/5

Wild Mushroom, Truffle aioli Crostini - $10

Well This was what i ordered! This dish was definitely more affordable and not so ridiculously priced! Was a bit bland, but i guess it'll be great for those who are health conscious and not a big fan of salt! Would rate this one a 4/5

Bacon, Egg and Maple Butter Panini - $14

And how can anyone miss out dessert, especially for my fellow sweet tooth friends! I absolutely LOVE desserts and no matter how hard i try... I can never keep away from them for more than 3 days HAHAHA #guilty plus i've recently been in love with lemon tarts, so we ordered one to share, the custard itself was fantastic! But the crust was too hard and dry, guess they're not so much a dessert place! would rate it 2.5/5

Lemon Tart - $8

Now, being a girl, how can we forget about LOTDs and OOTDs ... right? So we were walking along One Fullerton road after that just to enjoy the overarching view of Singapore and then I shamelessly decided that THAT was the spot for a OOTD! #buaypaiseh So here it is...

Black Rose Choker Necklace, Black Tank Top H&M, Pink Acid-washed Denim Oversized Jacket, Blue Acid-washed shorts, Studded bracelet, Hot pink wallet Calvin Klein, Sneaker wedges DKNY.

And one more close up shot!

Black Shades Burberry

So that sums up my day today! If you're interested in check this brunch place out, head on down to:
