Christmas!!

#OOTD : Santarina outfit to embrace the X'mas spirit! You can get this online for around $15? (PS: pardon the mess behind, it's not time for spring cleaning YET xP )

Hello friends! I just wanted to blog about my christmas, pardon the wordy post... There's not much pictures :x You know.. i've always love christmas especially because its like right at the end of your holidays so you've already been in that "holiday mood". It doesn't matter if you've went overseas or whatever, just the though about being away from school is.. HALLELUJAH, right?! HAHAHA i know, we all hate school and it's just GREAT to laze around at home, sleep at 4am and wake up at 12pm the next day or something.. well, that's what i do xD

But Christmas, is more that just putting a great end to a good break from school, i think it's really about the atmosphere, a family get together and a time to celebrate the gift of giving, the spirit of sharing. When we were young, we all looked forward to presents from Santa.. or in this case, our family and friends. But as we grow older, little presents like a storybook or new video game is nothing, we can get that any day we want, right? So i've come to figure that what i love about Christmas is the time well spent with my loved ones, and not to forget... the wide spread of glorious food like Ham, sheperd's pie, Pork Knuckle *drools* It's really an indulgence of all senses, like literally.

I really really wish i could spend this whole post just explaining how good the food was but i think that would be sooooo boring to read. So i just wanted to let everyone know that, IF you didn't receive the presents you wanted for Christmas, just be thankful. Be thankful that you have a family that loves you enough to bother shopping for a present in the first place! If you didn't manage to celebrate Christmas, then know that i love all of you for supporting milkteamelts! <3 <3

The Hustle and Bustle of Vietnam

Hey everyone! How was Christmas! I hope everyone of you spent great time with your family and friends :D Anyway, I didn't really capture much images for Christmas because i was too busy Cooking, Eating, Playing i just wanted to enjoy the moment! i'll still blog about my christmas though! But for now, the long awaited... VIETNAM blog post! i think i've mentioned somewhere in my previous blog posts before that i was in vietnam from 4th-7th december!

Well... Vietnam isn't really a developed country, so you can't expect 5-star toilets everywhere you go, or high tech gadget-y stuff there, but its a humble country full of its own kind of life! The traffic is so different from Singapore's you'd have to brave up and #YOLO when crossing the street cause no one ever stops at the zebra crossings.. :x

Their roads are full of motorcycles, and the people uses horns like crazy!! It's so noisy it can be your daily alarm clock cause it goes "BEEP BEEP BO BO BEEEEEEEEEEEP" early in the morning ):<  But then again, i guess it's their way of communicating (?) Or at least we know they aren't hypocrites.. they let you know upfront if they ain't happy man! But anyway, their taxis are SO much cheaper than singapore, i'm not complaining, every ride is approximately...$5 or less? So we took the taxi everywhere!! Either that or we walked, good excercise okay! Must work for all that yummy food!

Typical fruit stall! Their fruits are so HUGE and rich in colour!! Really yummy tooo!

Beef Pho

Pork Chop with Broken rice (The rice is really like 'broken')

Fried Spring Roll -- MUST TRY!

Roast Chicken with Fried rice cakes

Stir-fried Pork with Onion

Meat hot pot

Rice Flan with Shrimp
Now... Food in Vietnam is tricky, you can't just walk into any random stall or roadside stall and expect to find yourself yummy food. NO, you have to make sure that 1- It's clean, 2- It's famous. Trust us! Jesslyn and I have experienced really lousy food ): In fact, the best food we had wasn't Vietnamese.. haha maybe we don't really know how to appreciate their taste for food :x But there's one thing we sure know how to appreciate!! and that is... Being PAMPERED! Yes, all the beauty-related stuff in vietnam is VERY affordable. Facial, Massage, Spa, Manicure, Hair dressing... You name it!

So you can get your nails beautifully painted, both hand and feet for $16? You know.. having design on your nails in singapore would probably cost you $50 for both your hands and feet right? so $16 is really cheap! But... you might have some language barrier because they don't really understand english, so if you're having design, choose something SIMPLE or something that is blatantly on the template given. Trying to change this and that isn't going to be easy... they might end up getting confused >.<

We also attempted to take a boat ride along Saigon River that was nearby our hotel -- BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER. PLEASE, DO NOT EVER trust roadside boat men when they tell you "Very good! See the city and floating market. My boat go to small lane, see many nice thing" it's a LIE!!!!! we trusted this boat men and followed his boat.. we were led to a SWAMP. with over-grown mangroves everywhere, the whole place seemed the same: Brown, muddy, leafy, stale water... we were TERRIFIED man!! if they had murdered us there and then, no one would even have found our corpse lah! And no, i'm not exaggerating, it was really that much of a dead town. And what was their floating market? 3 men on a small boat carrying a few baskets of leaves. YUP, that's the floating market #WTH? I was so so frightened i was SO happy when they we were on our way back and there were some more people it called for a photo.

So it seems... this is a great dating spot to the vietnamese? WHAAAAAAT???
Oh yeah, and that's my daddy #nomakeup #bareface #nofilter .. I know, i look super different from when i wear makeup right??? WELL, maybe if i had worn makeup i would have been raped in that swamp :O At times like this.. it's better to look a little uglier, don't you think? HAHAHA nah i',m just kidding, you pay for what you get. If you're not a natural beauty and you're too lazy to put make up like me, TOO BAD, you just have to embrace your ugly face! #nooffense #justsaying
But i have to say, going to Vietnam taught me some really valuable life lessons, like 1: DON'T anyhow  trust people, 2: Bargaining skills - because that's important for shopping, 3: Maths - Yup, you need to work fast and calculate currency! Hehe :D OH! yea... their fashion sense isn't great, but you can LOADS of nail stuff at really good prices!

See how happy Jesslyn is? And how bored i was? Hahaha Jesslyn going to kill me for taking candid photos of her.. #oops
So yup! I think that pretty much sums up our Vietnam Trip.. I would say it's still a good trip after all. Whether or not we really had a great time shopping? No, but it's still precious time spent with my loved ones, So i wouldn't want to go back to vietnam, but it'll still be an unforgettable trip (of course lah, the boat ride so traumatic i had a nightmare okay!)

Sayonara friends - xx

Photo Shoot!

WHEW! what a long time it's been since i've last blogged! I've been so so busy these few weeks creating recipes for christmas, working out so i don't look fat and of course, eating -- DNG DNG DNG the greatest sin one can commit during the holidays :O No, its not not completing your homework -- that i'm guilty of too >.< #oops

Anyway!! you know how i LOVE photo shoots? Because its that one time everyone fusses over you. your hair, make up, clothes...etc, and you feel like you're attracting all the attention because it's all about you? I mean, yeah that's one part of it, but what i love is that i get to look my best! I'm not good at make up >.< I DON'T KNOW WHY I ALWAYS SCREW IT UP!!!!! *rage mode* But on photo shoot days, my wonderful and most amazing jiejie will step in and save my face haha!

And before makeup i feel like a saltless, butterless, milkless mashed potato, and after --> Like the fluffiest most tasty mashed potato ever. Does this even make any sense to you? Like what i'm trying to say it.. she creates wonders, PERIOD.

It's okay if you don't really get what i mean.. let me SHOW you what i mean! So the first picture is me in absolutely NO make up. ZERO, and i mean none, not even foundation or concealer. I know some people like to #nomakeup and then i look at their photo and i'm like.. huh? this called no make up meh? But yea.. really not wearing anything in this one

On the right : ANGIE! :D
And this is me.. with full face make up that I DID AFTER LIKE 1 HOUR...

And this is what JIEJIE DID IN 20 MINUTES.

Just look at the freaking difference!! I always say i'd find my sister to be my make up artist on my wedding day, and i'm serious about that. Don't you think she creates wonders??? Eh anyone needs make up service go find her HAHAHA just kiddingggggg her special hands are for me and me only xD

And can you guess what our theme for this photo shoot was? i'd give you a clue!

That's me just practicing #buaypaiseh

And up till that day... still practicing! This the first time i've done this kind of shoot so i was really quite nervous yet excited to see how it turns out! i guess it went quite well, since we were done after around an hour! and we even had a special guest!!! HEHEHE i'll reveal who he is when the pictures are out so stay tune!

Mean while, just a few more Selfies :D

OHHHHHH and in tribute of my new favourite movie -- Frozen, i decided to do a short cover on "do you want to build a snowman" from it (Featuring jiejie who voiced Elsa)

PS: pardon the singing, i was never a great singer but i just really wanted to do this because i couldn't get the song out of my head and Anna is just too too cute! PLEASE trust me and go catch it if you haven't! :D

okay, byeeeee (haha get it? get it?) -- XX,

Symmetry - Brunch

Hello! So I went to try out the brunch at Symmetry with Jet because we were bored and hungry at 4pm in the afternoon and there was no queue there -- YES! The perks of being a bum and sleeping till the sun set (;

We ordered truffle fries for starters! YUMMERS! THE BEST TRUFFLE FRIES I'VE EVER EATEN! The fries had the nice potato taste I always look for in fries and the serving was more than generous, it was excessive! Imagine a bucket of 3 macdonalds large fries... Yep. That much! Fries were nicely crisp, well seasoned and featured a rich truffle aroma with a generous shaving of Parmesan cheese. Hahaha I was whining about being fat as usual but umm... Jet and I finished the whole bucket :P Highly recommended - 5/5!

 Truffle fries

Jet ordered eggs benedict which I ate quite a lot of! A well-rounded, classic dish with quality streaky bacon, eggs and toast. The poached eggs were a bit on the runny side, a little more soft boiled but I didn't mind at all! In fact I prefer this to the usual poached eggs which I'm not a big fan of! Recommended - 4/5!

Eggs Benedict - $20

I ordered a serving of their symmetry eggs sur le plat. Mmmm it wasn't what I expected but it was still quite delicious and well-flavoured nonetheless. The dish came as a sort of stew that reminded me of spaghetti bolognese without pasta. I don't quite fancy tomato sauce based dishes so this wasn't really my kind of dish.. Felt it could do with a little more cheese too!  3.5/5

Overall, I really like the place! But the brunch there is a tad pricy and not quite worth the wait in my opinion.. perhaps a lil overrated in fact? Haha but if you're interested to try Symmetry, do make reservations at least 3 days in advance or go during non peak hours.. We came at 4pm as walk-in customers and waited 5 mins for a table (:

Shanghai part 3!

Last part of my shanghai trip! The days just seemed to get better and better as they go along, and when you've reached day 5.. you start to dread the idea of going back to Singapore because shanghai was just so so fun ): But let's not pop the happy bubble! Day 5 was FUN FUN FUN!

We went to a little water town called 'ZhuJiaJiao'. And there wasn't really much to do, but just having that homely feel with all the quaint, old buildings around, not to mention the small little shops selling all sorts of interesting and yummy goodies, don't be surprised if you end up spending a whole day there! I totally feel like i didn't have enough of it, it's a fabulous place for #OOTDs and pictures!

see? It looks SOOOO peaceful right? the life in this little water town looks fun too, being there just made all of us happy for some reason, all the tiredness in our legs.. the freezing toes and fingers, all seemed like nothing! We even went all out to have fun and did some funny poses! Hahaha check it out, but don't blame us for being 'crazy' that's just the way we had fun, and hey! if you ever visit this town, you'll understand what i mean (;

Starbucks also somehow became our best friend in the cold weather because a hot cup of latte was really nice!

7 happy smiles with 7 cups of Starbucks :D

A Starbucks a day keeps the coldness away! #yum
Later on we also went to a supermarket in this little town! And i know you might be thinking.. its just a supermarket, what's so interesting?? Well...

Does it looks interesting or does it looks interesting?! SOOOO many snacks up for grab! And they're all pretty reasonably prices! 1 SGD is approx 5 RMB so... most of their snacks were about $2 each only?

Dinner was not too bad that day either.. Being in a little town like ZhuJiaJiao, they have a slightly different palate so the taste of the food might seem 'weird' but it's not too bad! *wink* you know you could always choose to have cup noodles since the supermarket's just a short walk away? they have LOADS of different flavours!

Day 6 was even better because we started out the day at Mahota Farm -- They grow organic vegetable and rear animals carefully to ensure the best quality for consumption. And we had our own personal hot pot for lunch! YES, you know how shiok it is to have hot pot in cold weather? nice warm soup that's good for the tummy AND healthy so it's absolutely guilt free eating!

Hot pot set comprising of  peanuts and cucumbers for starters, fresh vegetables (Lots of varieties like sweet potato, carrots, white radish, Golden mushroom, lettuce and some others), Meat balls and sliced pork plus a butter cookie and orange for snacks!

Was really the BEST. MEAL. EVER!! Okay, i have to admit the soup was kinda tasteless and the only sauce they gave came with LOADS of parsley in it... Yuck, i'm not a fan of parsley AT ALL! >.< so okay fine, the soup wasn't very tasty but after cooking all the meat and everything it's not too bad! Oh, we went farming too!! and they gave us all free organic veggies to bring home.. how nice!

Planting the baby plants!
Watering them after!
And we're all done! YAY!

we also went to another shopping area called 'Xin Yang' Market! It's great for shopping because there are many shops! But you really have to put your bargaining skills to the test at this place because the prices they'll quote you are very high, but you can actually get it at a much lower price! I bought a pair of imitation Doctor Martens boots from there for $24 when they actually quoted me like $50 hehehe *inner auntie mode on* I don't have very many pictures of the place because i was too busy and excited to shop haha but this is how the entrance looks like

it's an Underground shopping place near the Mrt! If you come across this, remember to stop and shop! there's lots of good stuff especially SHOES :D the clothes.. not too fashionable in my opinion haha but you could always check it out!

I'm just gonna squeeze day 7 in this post as well because it's already the last day ): how time flies! So we set off quite early in the morning to Qibao ancient town... It's quite similar to ZhuJiaJiao but has less interesting shops around, mostly food! still an interesting place to go!!

They look similar right? Even i had a hard time sorting out my photos and figuring out which place it actually was :O and also similar to ZhuJiaJiao, what i like about this place is it makes you feel like you're away from the hustle and bustle streets of shanghai. In this small little village you'll find peace and tranquility (:

So that marked the end of our 7 day Shanghai Journey, and back to Singapore we went! Shanghai's a really modern city and i really loved the place a lot, i'll definitely wanna go back there again! Yea, there were some parts of it i didn't enjoy, certain culture of theirs i cannot understand, but overall.. it's still a great place to go :D

Once again ending off with my #OOTD for these three days (:

Day 5:

Black and White dress, Red coat New look, Black Tights and black fur boots (PS: Angie and i shifted the table lamp to make it have a 'photoshoot' effect haha! Does it look like it? )

Day 6:

Black Turtle Neck Uniqlo, Red checkered shirt, Black and Gold Coat H&M, Dark Grey jeans, Black Fur boots
Day 7:

Black Rugger Ralph Lauren, Navy blue Vest Ralph Lauren, Camel Coat Ad&co, White acid wash jeans, Black fur boots
Have i convinced you that Shanghai is a travel destination worth considering? If i haven't maybe you'd wanna take a look at this short video made by Krittin summarizing all the fun we had in Shanghai!

With love,
